General Auction Rules
2010 Auction - Foals of 2011

  1. There will be no stallion nomination fee for the 2010 Auction. All nominated stallion owners may nominate two mares to be bred to their stallion in the 2010 breeding year, with the resulting two (2) foals eligible to be shown in the 2011 Equal  Opportunity Futurity regardless of whether or not the fee sells. There will be a $100 fee for the stallion owner to the nominate the first mare. The fee for the second mare will be one-half the stallion's fee. The stallion's fee will only sell once.
  2. Stallion nomination must be received by the catalog deadline of  January 5, 2010 .  No Stallion Nominations will be accepted the night of the auction.
  3. Stallion service fees will be sold in the same order as they are listed in the catalog. Every effort has been made to ensure accuracy of listing. Any known errors will be announced at the time of the auction. Neither Horsemen of Iowa, Inc. nor the auctioneer assumes any liabilities for errors or omissions of catalog statements.
  4. Stallion service will be sold to the highest bidder. The bidding will begin at 50% of the advertised fee, with a minimum of $250 starting bid. Private Treaty, Auction only & Chute fees will not be accepted. The auctioneer will settle any disputes and his decision will be final.
  5. 100% of the bid is due and payable the night of the auction, or may be paid in installments - 50% due the night of the auction and 50% due on February 15 of the auction year. Non-payment of the balance due by February 15, results in forfeiture of all money previously paid.
  6. A breeding contract will be issued to the buyer upon completion of payment of the service fee. Absolutely no mares can be bred until balance is paid and the buyer obtains a contract. All additional charges by a stallion owner must be disclosed prior to the auction. All other contracts must be available for viewing at the auction.
  7. All guarantees are between buyer and seller.
  8. Stallion owner and mare owner must nominate their mare(s) by December 1, 2010. Mare nominations postmarked after Dec.1,2010 will have a late fee of $25. Any nominations received after Dec. 31, 2010 will not be accepted.

  11. Nominated mares that did not produce a live viable foal will be reclassified and allowed a return service only one time and only the year after purchase.
  12. In the event a stallion dies or becomes unserviceable, or the stallion owner, manager, or lessee refuse to honor contract for any reason, credit will be given to the purchaser the following year for the same amount on another breeding fee through the auction. All of the credit must be used the following year. NO CARRY OVER OF CREDITS. NO REFUNDS.
